Sokana Collective’s Training Academy’s Full Spectrum Birth Justice Doula Certification course is designed for individuals who want to become professional doulas and provide compassionate, culturally responsive, full-spectrum support to birthing people and families.

• This is an in-depth training program designed to certify doulas with a focus on providing culturally competent and holistic care. The training covers fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and lactation, and is rooted in birth justice principles.

No previous experience is required to begin your doula journey, but a commitment to birth justice and supporting marginalized communities is essential. Our training is open to anyone who shares these values.

Yes! Sokana Collective is an approved doula training organization under Illinois Medicaid and SIU requirements. Completing our certification fulfills the approved training requirement for doulas pursuing Illinois Medicaid certification.

The doula certification course is a 40-hour program sometimes held 5 days in a row or sometimes spread over 2 weekends. The hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm.

Your $1,250 tuition includes the training, required course materials, t-shirt and other swag along with certification expenses associated with completing the cohort.

Yes! If you choose to join Sokana Collective as a doula after completing your training, we can provide opportunities and support to help you obtain the required perinatal experiences needed for Illinois Medicaid certification.

Yes. Graduates who join Sokana Collective after completing their certification have access to mentorship and backup-doula support through the agency. Our goal is not simply to train doulas, but to support them as they build their skills and experience in the field.

Yes! Payment plans are always available.

You can register with a $250 deposit, and you can make additional payments at intervals that work for you. Your remaining balance must be paid in full at least 2 weeks before the start of the cohort.

Because our training cohorts have limited space, registration represents a commitment to participate.

For payment plans, the $250 registration deposit is non-refundable. If you need to cancel:

• More than 30 days before training: Payments beyond the $250 deposit may be refunded.

• 15–30 days before training: Up to 50% of payments beyond the deposit may be refunded.

• 14 days or less before training: No refunds will be issued.

• Once training begins: No refunds are available for withdrawal, missed days, late arrival, or early departure.

If you are unable to attend, you may request to transfer your registration to a future cohort. Transfers are subject to approval and cohort availability.

If Sokana Collective cancels or significantly reschedules a training, participants will be notified of their available refund or transfer options.
