Meet Harmony Z.

Hello! I'm Harmony and I'm a Birth Doula based in Chicago. Ever since I was young, I was fascinated by medicine and human anatomy. My grandfather was a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, and my dream was to connect Eastern and Western medicine in a holistic, OB/Gyn practice. Eastern medicine’s philosophy that the human body can naturally heal and sustain itself drew me. One of the most beautiful and incredible things that the human body can do is to create new life.

Although my career path took a different turn (I became an actor and real estate agent), my medical passion reignited when I became pregnant with my son in 2024. I was compelled to learn all I could about pregnancy and birth, and how I could best prepare myself for this life-changing experience. One of the best decisions I made was to hire a birth doula for myself, and the extra emotional support and continuous care was exactly what I needed.

Inspired by my own birth experience, I now want to help other birthing humans embrace this time of transition with comfort & confidence. My approach as a birth doula centers the birthing person’s empowerment through movement, mind-body connection, and being prepared through education and rehearsal. I recommend having at least one in-person prenatal appointment, where the birthing person, their partner, and I can practice hands-on comfort measures together. I believe in the power of visualizing a satisfying birth experience, while also doing what I can with tangible elements—lighting, aromatherapy, music, and massage—to create a positive birth environment. My experience in acting and
real estate only aid in what I do as a birth doula: I am able to truly listen with empathy, and cater my care towards each client’s individual needs and desires.

I believe that the transition into motherhood is sacred for every person who goes through it, and how a birth story unfolds affects the lives of the birthing person and baby profoundly. My goal as a birth worker is to help the birthing person feel calm, comfortable, and heard throughout the birth experience. It would be my honor to partner with you on this journey!
